A humanitarian crisis inflicted by force.
In 2018, the outbreak of the Sudanese revolution against long-standing authoritarianism plunged the country into instability. A military coup in 2019, backed and armed by foreign powers, then rapidly deepened political divisions, leading to a brutal civil war.
Since then, more than 150,000 civilians are estimated to have been killed in the conflict. Over 14 million people have been displaced, and vast areas of the country face acute hunger and poverty.
The nadir of the many now-confirmed war crimes against civilians occurred in the besieged town of El Fasher, where thousands were mercilessly executed; may Allah forgive us.

‘The generous one is close to Allah , close to Paradise, close to people and distant from the Fire; the miserly one is distant from Allah, distant from Paradise, distant from people and close to the Fire; and ignorant yet generous person is more beloved to Allah than a miserly worshipper.’ (Tirmidhi)

Ummah Welfare Trust is moving to provide emergency relief to displaced families in and around the country’s capital, Khartoum. Many of these families fled the violence with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Your help for this work is needed, for the Ummah is one and is swift in its response. Please donate generously to this emergency appeal so that immediate relief can reach our brothers and sisters.
‘Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the
griefs of the Day of Judgment.’ (Muslim)
