Medical Projects
‘None of you can be true in your beliefs until you wish for your brother what you wish for yourself.’
- Sahih al-Bukhari
Providing medical aid is not only done to save lives, as in emergency operations and treatment, but also to improve people’s quality of life. Aid such as artificial limbs, wheelchairs, physiotherapy and emergency surgery enable people to stand on their own two feet and provide for themselves and their families.
Some examples of the medical relief administered by Ummah Welfare Trust:
- Dialysis treatment is provided to poor diabetic patients in Pakistan and India.
- Free cataract surgery is provided to poor rurally-based persons in Pakistan and India.
- Wheelchairs, crutches and supports are distributed to disabled persons and amputees in Somalia.
- Needed medicines are allocated to rural hospitals and clinics in Somalia.
- IVF treatment in Gaza
- Eye tests for children in Gaza
- Children’s healthcare is rendered in Bangladesh, Burma, Somalia and Pakistan
- Mobile and static clinics are established in emergency disasters.
Though not an obvious project for many donors, the rewards for providing medical relief are undoubtedly great. Ummah Welfare Trust is always encouraging donations for this work, which helps remove the hardships placed upon sick and frail Muslims.
